Brittany, Sam’s birthmother, talks about Anna

“The reason I picked Anna was because she was a single mom.  If I wanted to be involved in any decision-making or arranging to get together it would be easier to deal with just one person.  In most open adoptions. people visit two times a year.  But because Anna is so flexible, I can see Sam anytime. We have a great situation!

Patty, Gretchen’s birthmother, talks about Anna

“Anna is a great mother to my child.  She is always there for me and we talk about Gretchen all the time.  I wish I had a mom like Anna…she’s a great mom and knows how to take care of kids.  Anna also knows what she’s doing in an open adoption!

Fully Open Adoption

Raising two children in open adoptions has taught me many life lessons and I am fortunate to have birth family that live close enough to stay in regular contact. Regular contact also gives the children and their birth family many chances to understand and enjoy their relationship!

Sam’s birthmother, Brittany, feels like the little sister I never had. Every month or so we all meet at a park, eat lunch together, or go to the mall. We also keep in touch with Sam’s birthfather, Anthony, and his extended family. Gretchen’s birthmother, Patty, and I are very close and talk on the phone weekly.  She lives about an hour away, and we try to see each other as often as possible.  Gretchen’s birthfather lives in Mexico and we keep in contact through letters and photos.
